Dear Ethan,
A few days ago I received a LINKEDIN connect message from you. Somehow, I could not find it again, so I am trying to connect via this site.
I cut my literary teeth on network TV, shows like THE EDGE OF NIGHT, PARADISE BAY and THE HIDDEN FACES, soap operas, the meat and potatoes of daytime TV. Lesser talents get chewed up and spit out on these non-stop dramas.
A few published books and a handful of screen and stage plays later I was signed by the Christian Broadcasting Network to create and oversee the writing for the first and longest-running dramatic series on cable TV, ANOTHER LIFE. After a successful 875 shows, it went into reruns. In addition I was Supervising Producer for SUPERBOOK, an animated TV series of 52 episodes.
But that’s ancient history. Forty years writing and producing either matures a writer or beats him down. I think I have managed to achieve a singular maturity in my craft.
My latest stage play, ELVIS WAS KING, BUT JOLIE WAS GOLDEN, was a 2013 finalist in the Beverly Hills Screenwriting competition.
My latest screenplay, SOULCATCHER, a four-quadrant, historical crime-drama you could bookend in today’s market between D’JANGO and 12 YEARS A SLAVE. Logline: A desperate black woman hires a hated slave-catcher in 1853 to rescue her kidnapped children.
I have several other properties for TV, screen and the stage in my arsenal awaiting the right marketing representative.
Respectfully,
Jason Vinley
